Quite frankly im in that lost phase again.
Currently I have a E8500 on an Nforce 6 4 GB Ram. A 460GTX 2GB, and my piece de resistance is a crucial 128 GB SSD.
But I have noticed problems. Im not sure if the memory is on the slide or the SSD (despite reporting 90% health) is unhappy. Freezing on boot ups, checked memory seems ok, but ive reduced it to a 800MHz clock from pushing it to the MAX OC clock spec on the Nforce 6 board.
I kow something isn't happy somewhere, and to be fair it gets used and used a lot
.
My question is a help what do I want to look at. I figure somewhere around the 500-600 pound mark to upgrade the motherboard and processor. I still have a Corsair 550W power supply, so this may/may not need upgrading depending.
If the Motherboard and processor are replaced that obviously means RAM as well. What to go for though? AMD or Intel? does anyone have any of the new boot interfaces out, can I finally do away with a BIOS?
Any pointers really appreciated
