Been out the loop a bit (My job has been taking me to foreign parts)

Current Rig;

Athlon64 3000+ Venice (@ 2700MHz)
1 Gig Corsair ram (1:1 @300MHz with CPU)
Radeon X850XT @(600/600)
DFI NF4 Ultra-D (Happy with this so don’t want to change)

I want to know what do you think would be the best to change,
My choices are

Replace the X850XT for
X1900XT at £364.19
Or
X1800XT at £276.07 (but have to get in quick today for this)

Or I could replace the CPU for
Opteron 165 for 270.19

Or replace the CPU and RAM for
Athlon64 X2 3800+ at 211.44
And the RAM to
G.Skill 2GB DDR HZ PC4000 at £146.82
Totalling to £358.26

What do people think, as a gamer who does some encoding and ripping, what upgrade would I gain most from.

Cheers for any replies

I'd try selling off your existing Ram and graphics card as you should be able to get somewhere around £150ish then going for an Opteron 165 and 2gb of Ram which will cost just shy of £400 but maybe you had already factored the sales into account before budgeting?

I'd say a 7800gt and 2gb would be an improvement but then you may find yourself a little restricted by your CPU although that is a good overclock. New Ram may also mean you have to limit your overclock or run a divider I suppose.

Unfortunately I had :(
