So I am currently running an i5 7600k with a r9 390 and mediocre memory. I have the money to buy either the new i9 10900k along with the meg z490 godlike or a 2080ti with 32 gig of decent memory. Personally I feel 2080ti is the way to go but will I get maximum use out of it on a 7600k?

That seems like a rather binary decision in a tech world with such rich choices. I don't really think either of those are what I would do. You've either got an old cpu with the latest and greatest and graphics card, or the latest and greatest CPU with an ancient graphics card.

Neither of those are going to perform well or provide good value for money.

Can't you go for a more even balance like a Ryzen 5 3600/3700 and a 2070 (super)?

In about 1-2 months I'll have the money for the rest, it's just for now what would be the best choice to fill the gap

Ah, well no, you certainly won't get the most out of it, probably no where near, but if it's only a stop gap and you're going to get the rest later it shouldn't matter too much.

In the mean time I guess it depends where you want to see the most improvement, if it's purely games and you're definitely upgrading the CPU soon then a new graphics card is probably the way to go.

Do you have a high res high refresh rate monitor?

Monitor is 1920x1080 144hz

Hi again, I don't want to put you off your selection and this is only my opinion, but isn't a 2080Ti overkill for a 1080 monitor?

The 2080 and even 2070 are extremely capable even on a 1440 monitor. Speaking for myself I wouldn't buy a 2080Ti for a 1080 monitor, I'd spend the money on other components.

Does anyone else think the 2080Ti is overkill ??

I totally get what you're saying but it's a gradual build and I want to totally future proof my rig, the next obvious step after both of those would be a monitor but that might be maybe 4 months down the line, as long as I don't run into a massive bottleneck surely it should be fine
