Hey all,

Cousins and I are our own 'come dine with me'

We've been to the other 2 cousins houses and so next up its our turn to host :)

There are 8 of us in total and so far the themes we've had are:

Mexican
Indian

So I'm trying to think of what we could cook...neither my sister or I are scared of the kitchen and really enjoy cooking! so we are happy to get stuck in and give this a proper go!

Only requirement is is that it needs to be enough to cater for 8 really...some of the family don't like Chinese food! (heathens!!)

Any thoughts people?

Say with a country theme and what food to go along with it? :)

Many Thanks,
Jake

Go american:

Onon rings etc to start,

then home made burgers and/or hot dogs, let them build their own, cheese, bacon, fried egg, lettuce tomatoes, gherkins etc, then condiments, tomato sauce, chilli con carne, american mustard.

served with fries.

and banana splits or knickerbocker glories for dessert

they will love it.

American was suggested and I wasn't a fan of the idea...however you've just made that sound immensely appetising! :D

What else would you suggest for starter?

And thanks to all suggestions so far an suggestions to come! They'll be noted down for future come dine with me events :D

In fact, you don't live too far from me, can i come?

You can....if you want to be the chef? :p

I was writing a post this morning on the train but forgot to post it....doh!

Was saying Jamaican sounds lush!

It's a split between the two I think...shall talk with my sister tonight and report back...

And pictures etc obviouisly will be posted :D

Ok - Due to work being done on the house this was delayed a lot but the date has been set for Tuesday evening and none of them know its an American theme!

The plan for the evening is as follows:

Starters:

BBQ Wings
Nachos
Corn on the cob
Onion Rings

Mains:
Everyone gets a burger with a bun. On the table laid out will be lots and lots of small dishes to include anything you could want in a burger, relish, cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes etc. Then in the middle of all of that a big wicker style basket (we need to find one) filled with curly fries. If anyone knows where to get the basket and associated red/white grease paper that the americans have that'd be great.

The idea is they get their burger then can build it to their 'spec' :D

Desserts:

Knickerbockerglory's
or
Banana Splits
or
May attempt a choc sunday of some sort.

-----------

Sound good to everyone? Pictures of course will be taken throughout the night and we'll post some on here :)

Oh, and I've told everyone to wear trousers with elasticated waistbands :D

Mission...complete.

100% successful evening, they loved it. We used the George foreman to cook the burgers on a table next to the main table so everyone could smell them, had them watering on the mouths :)

Thanks for the ideas and input folks.

I'm now going to go and die somewhere from over eating :p
