What to do about old laptops?

I've got two old laptops that are breaking down and almost worthless, and that I don't have any use for, even as a simple file server. Any recommendations on how I get rid of these things!? Toss them into a local dump after wiping the HDDs?
 
a) Smash the hard-disks up if you're paranoid or have some uber secretz data, take the laptops to an appropriate recycling/refuse centre for disposal. :)

b) Ebay them for such a low amount that it just isn't worth it.

c) Bin, forget, native american sheds a tear for the environment...

I'd go for a) but I'd make sure there weren't any bits that people would pay for first.
