What to do about this mess...

Well with a new motherboard arriving i thought it was finally time to break out the watercooling loop i've had in the cupboard for a while. The pump/res combo was looking a bit cloudy so i decided to take it apart to clean it, which has led to a whole host of problems (apologies in advance for the phone pictures, if it bothers you). Key amongst which being with the pump:

To get it out i had to unscrew the part where the wires (which are black, red and yellow and lead to a three pin fan connector i believe) join the res

Now i had my doubts about this, but i decided it would be some sort of slip ring system else it wouldn't be a screw fitting. However, under closer inspection (only possible after actually taking it out), i found this:

Where the wires are twisted and it looks to me as if they're snapped, unless they just join onto the connector by touching which i found somewhat unlikey. Here's the connector:

Was nearly impossible to get a decent image due to either the camera blocking the light or the camera not being able to get an angle to see in. It looks slightly similar to the picture coming from the pump, but it's obscured mostly by some black foam, which may have been keeping it from touching the water.

So my question is, have i actually broken it and if so, is it just a matter of soldering the coloured wires to each other and covering it in say... superglue to keep it waterproof?

The second major problem arose when i tried to screw the barbs back in, it had some cracks in it before but they weren't too serious...

Now i don't really think this is worth trying to fix, so could i just buy/make a new res. to work in a similar way to this one, with the pump inside (since i assume that's how the pump actually works)? Would have to be (very) cheap, and not too hard to mod, which i presume i would have to do to make an entrance for the wire.

This was a gift so unfortunately i have no idea about make/model (also means i haven't actually tested it yet, but we'll deal with that later ;) ), it looks like a centrifugal pump (there are other kinds, right?) that might have been designed for an aquarium.

Oh, and while we're at it - anti-bacterial agents. I've heard of the use of silver, where do people usually get this from and are there any alternatives?

Thanks for any help! :)

i would say put that in the bin and get a new or used one.

you can use something like ptnuke or a silver kill coil google them you will find them very easy

As much as i would love to, i may have spent nearly all my free money on camping, guitar and photography gear... as well as that new motherboard :D If i'm going to get a new pump/res then it's going to have to be sub £10, which is difficult even when going used - hence why it would be ideal if the pump worked, or at least if i could test it.

The only pump you could! Get for that price is a old thermaltake one.

That pump you have will be very poor as aquarium pumps are low pressure and you need high pressure for water blocks. You might as well stick with air cooling
