what to do after buying hosting?

Hey, so im going to buy some hosting soon to host a site.

Thing is, once ive been to the website,bought the hosting for like £3 per month or whatever it is. What the hell do i do then

As ive never done it before im not sure, how do i actually get my website ONTO the internet? I have the html files/css file and images i need.
What exacly do i do

You use FTP, File Transfer Protocol, to upload files to the web root, normally www or public_html or htdocs

SmartFTP is a great free client and should get you sorted out with connecting to your webspace.

The host name can be whatever - ftp.yourdomain.com or something close to that normally - and the username/password should be supplied by your host after you sign up

The hostname is something the FTP program will ask you for when you try and connect. It's just the server address: "which FTP server should I connect to / where is it?" which is of course your domain

if i go with http://www.123-reg.co.uk/ i can buy hosting for about £1.49 a month and a .co.uk domain name for 2.59

No comment from me, all I can say is check out www.ochostreview.co.uk for some reviews

Edit: Also, a .co.uk is a minimum two year registration period so multiply £2.59 by two for the price you'll pay

actually i will buy a reg from somewhere, and then for the time been i will use my free 55mb ntl webspace just to practise on

edit: just bought www.nedsurf.co.uk from 123 reg

edit2: for some reason nedsurf.co.uk goes to a page but the one above doesn :confused:

i got a html layout from somewhere on the net. And then edited it that way, i did it like that so i can like see how tis done etc, im going to keep slowly editing it. Then i will try make a design from scratch,but its so much hard trying to do it via notepad than dreamweaver

Use the Dreamweaver code view - it's a development environment, so it helps you out with the tags and so on
