I'm going to Munich on business for two weeks in July and will be staying there over a weekend.

I'll probably be fairly busy during the weeks but will have the two weekend days in the middle without much to do, so any suggestions as to what's good to see and do around there would be appreciated.

i absolutely love Munich/Bavaria and in fact all of Germany and Austria. Go to the Englischer Garden (spelling), look at the nudies sunbathing way below next to the river and get a train to Rosenheim ...just bootiful!

Yeah, I know drinking beer is the obvious choice but I'm trying to cut back a bit on alcohol at the moment!

The autobahn thing sounds tempting though
/Goes off to find out how much it is to rent an M5 for the day :)

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

You can get a train upto the Berchtesgaden and visit The Eagles Nest, Hitlers Bavarian mountain retreat, built as a 50th birthday present for him by Goebbels.
It's absolutely stunning when the weather is good and you get lunch up in the Cafe. Check that it is open before you travel though.

Failing that, for a more reflective, sombre outing, you can visit Dachau Concentration camp on the outskirts of Munich.
