Ok at the moment i have a q6600 8800 gtx 2 gb ram a ds4 mobo and a 19" widescreen

i want to upgrade it , i will keep the q6600 thats ok

but what do i do about the rest of it? what gfx card should i go for now , is it worth waiting for this ati x2 card or is there something better on the horizon , i want this new machine to play crysis no problem! :p:)

You must have money to burn! You already have a PC many would envy. You may end up spending a lot of cash just to play one game lol.

the reason i want to upgrade is i went to play one of my xmas presies , one was crysis and other was call of duty 4 , i have vista 64 with service pack 1 installed , latest nvidia drivers , COD4 ran like crap , jerky and sound coruption in game , that was using the games recommended setttings , i though a gtx would have peed all over this game , the demo ran great

personally i'd get more RAM

then you've still got more money left over for a 9 series card

other than that go water cooled and clock the nuts off that chip and card =D

and your sig says E6600?

i know thats why i am worried something else is not right , just did a freash install of vista and applied sp1 rc1 , loaded game applyes 1.4 patch and it is still not smooth thats with aa off!

Actually i had this same problem with COD4...have a look in the control panel and make sure AA and vertical sync are off...mine was defaulting to being on automatically and whenever i played it would judder like mad...with a fiddle of the control panel it sorted it out and now COD4 runs smooth as hell
