What to do, what to do...

As BB says, go for it with the presentation and if nothing happens I'd be looking to get out.

Slightly OT: I once worked for a chancer of a manager too. Taking the job made him a little straighter WRT taxes and even insuring his car - although he moaned about that. However, you couldn't take the chancer element out of his personality which made him a truly dreadful manager. He didn't last long in the job, I don't think it helped that he was stealing entire desktop PCs either.

Having just got back from my meeting with the recruitment agency, I'm not sure if I want to put this proposal forward. They have a role which I'm pretty keen on, a decent bump in salary, management training, day shifts (6 on 3 off though, bit of a twist) and an almost guaranteed supervisor position within 6-9 months (they're currently training their supervisor in management, so they're looking for a replacement) and it's at one of London's most historic and famous buildings (like Big Ben famous, but not Big Ben) buildings.

I then get back to the office at work to find that my supervisor has removed the lock from the office door. The lock that we use to protect our stuff from loose fingers.

What a bell. Ah well, at least I know I've got options now. I'll probably give the presentation to upper management on the day I leave and go "here, this is what you could've had" and walk out all dramatic like :p

I would leave to be honest. I would happily take a different workplace rather than deal with muppets

Yeah, I think I'm just being silly if I consider staying. The way this company has gone recently is just shocking. Also finding out that I could be on almost £5k more and not on shift is a massive win for me.

Luckily I have a brand spanking new suit at home, ready for interviews!

I wouldn't do that, try both options... start applying externally and start pushing for promotion/new role internally. You're at a big company, it is your team/immediate manager/supervisor you don't like. You may or may not get the external role, you may or may not get an internal move - push hard for both... no need for any abrupt exits per say if you're been pushing hard for a change internally and making yourself visible then jump ship they'll stop and think regardless.

He removed your lock from the door and replaced comfortable office chairs with crap ones? What sort of ringpiece does this?

Good luck mate. The new job sounds awesome. Id do the presentation when youRd working your notice period just for peace of mind and to let management know these guys are damaging staff moral.

anyway good luck I hope you ace the interview.

Got an interview Monday. Not the one I was hoping for, but still a decent one nonetheless.

@arctine: there is no other side. I really wish I could tell you that I'm a crap employee and that I deserve all of this, as that'd at least give me a point of reference to all this wacky behaviour, but nothing. I'm always early, always polite, always in uniform, always use PPE, always do everything I'm told, it is honestly baffling.

I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say that their attitude is 100% unjustified. They're just weirdos.

I did however learn some interesting gossip this afternoon, both from the recruiter and one of my colleagues which helps put things into a bit of perspective, but I can't share it yet.

it's cracking though :D

Same BS with my brother in law, he works at Apple & they keep holding a promotion over his head, but always hire others... He shadows/trains, but no hiring, he might not have the skill set they want, but they never tell him that if that is it (maybe they are just jerks) & they have done this 3 times... They even told him to tell my sister one time, I thought Apple was one of the better places to work...

Retail and the engineering teams in Corporate are a nightmare, even in Cupertino.

Everything else is easy street though their management culture is a joke.

You tease.

Oh boy. Today is going to be a spectacular fireworks display of politics and ********. This gun be gud :D

It is absolutely who you know, not what you know

Had a similar experience in three different companies. The last one was a real eye opener. The directors appointed a new IT Manager (were talking about a billion pound company here) who knew very very little. She gave it all the talk, but had no actual experience. I heard two years later that she lost the company 3 million pounds due to illegal software licensing and had not looked into it properly lol The amazing thing is that she is still employed earning over £100,000 a year

This is the same person who had an argument with me who thought citrix could only support 22 users per server, and the ica protocol had nothing to do with rdp

anyway, my advice would be to move! especially when I read it has links to BT

get out!!!!!! do you real want to work for a company who employed an idiot as the manager, and gave the supervisors role to someone without even giving other people the chance of an interview. Sounds to be like it's rotten at the top.

I have nothing to do at work today, literally nothing as they've taken all my workload from me as we wait for a new project to begin.

As such I shall be checking this thread for updates, I hope for exciting gossip.
