What to do when there's no SLI support?

I've not had to deal with this for ages as most games have supported SLI really well. However, a couple are providing little or no support and I suspect might even be causing judder/stutter. If support isn't there, should I:

  • Disable on an individual basis via NCP
  • Disable via Nvidia Inspector
  • Disable SLI and remove the bridge
  • Leave it as is

I notice if I force single card via NCP then the second card can still show 20% albeit usually at a lower clock. Will this cause issues?

I would just disable in NCP and leave the bridge on. The other card is still a valid display adapter, and unless you physically remove it or disable it in device manager, I would expect it to be active in a low power mode waiting for you to plug a monitor in.

So best to disable globally rather than per game?

I would disable per game using NCP.

Re-enabling it can be pain for me when it demands certain apps be closed first or messes up the SLI focus window :p

I'd say disable Sli per game and don't do a clean install on new drivers so you don't have to set it up again as I'd usually forget that mgpu was disabled needing a game restart.

Best suggestion would be junk mgpu altogether like loads of us have due to crap scaling support.

Yea, I intend to get a 1080ti but if the price is over £800 then I'd rather just work with what I have as I'm sick of the stupid pricing strategy right now.

EDIT: I've disabled SLI altogether globally as it guarantees the 2nd card is at 0% at therefore not interfering. I think there'll be another 980ti in the MM soon as I think I'll have to admit my SLI stop-gap isn't really cutting it.
