What to do with a dead GPU in a Clevo P150HM

Hi guys. So I recently bought an Asus G751JY (absolutely fantastic machine, btw) after the ATI 6990M GPU in my old Clevo P150HM gave up the ghost. The laptop blue-screened, and now can't initialise the driver, although I can boot into Windows with safe mode, albeit with green lines running down my monitor (from POST). I am assuming my GPU is borked, I am guessing I am able to boot into safe mode from the GPU built into my Intel CPU?

Anyway, the company I bought the laptop from have quoted me £345 for a replacement 6990M, which is a lot of money for such an old card! I've tried scanning eBay for second hand units but they appear to be pretty rare, and even those that are listed are often very pricey.

Does anybody have any good suggestions for a cheaper way to get this PC back up and running, or should I simply sell it for spares?

You could probably buy a newer card, rather than spending so much on another 6990, which probably would fail again.
Personally (assuming the warranty has ran out?), I'd be taking the GPU out and trying it in the oven for a little while. Could get you up and running for a few months more.

When did you purchase the laptop?
