I had been using it as a spare machine but with the imminent arrival if my new MacBook pro it will be redundant. I had thought maybe a media server but it really needs a new 1tb hdd but it has an IDE rather than sata interface, any ideas?

Other than a server I can't think of a real use for it as it won't be able to play HD movies will it? So it's no use as a HTPC. I'd sell it eprsonally.

Its 1.4ghz. I thought some sort of file server, but hard drives are a bit of a problem although I'm sure I have seen a sata drive convertor somewhere and I still have the discs for Tiger server somewhere.
I doubt that it is worth much second hand otherwise I would flog it as I have all the packaging, besides it seems like a nice idea to reuse it.

There's still demand for PPC minis where software has not been ported to a later version of the OS (especially with drivers etc).

If you decide to sell it I know I'd like to buy one on the cheap just to have a play with some Mac Hardware :)

I know this isn't the place to offer to buy it however.

I have found a board that converts a sata drive to IDE and I could remove the optical drive and fit it.
But I'm not entirely sure i need a media server though!
