Hello. This probably won't be a long thread but as it's the most expensive part of my setup (to be) I thought I'd just get a second or third opinion.

I'll be coming into a bit of money shortly and want to get two screens for my rig. I considered getting a 24" but like the idea of being able to watch dvds/tv on my secondary monitor without having to interupt my work/browsing or re-sizing 15 different windows to all fit in - with size/quality obviously being compromised there.

Two Samsung 226BWs seem the obvious choice (despite the panel nightmare currently going on) to me but I don't want to buy and then have someone say 'Oh you could have had 2 x's for the same money and they're far better' or 'If you had of waited 2 weeks you could have got the new such-n-suchs and they're gonna be great'

Plan to buy in two weeks or so and just wanted reassuring I guess. Thanks.

If i was going to consider a dual monitor setup and do everything that you have just said you will be using them for, i would get a nice 22-24inch Screen for movies/games etc..... then a smaller screen for your work etc....

Maybe something like this:

and this:

Total : £381.79

Or two of these if you wanted the same monitors:

Total : £434.67

First of all, cheers for the suggestion, stickroad. :)

I guess I had considered the one better / one lesser option but ultimately decided against it, based purely on cosmetic reasons (mis-aligning of the monitors.) I understand I'll pay more and get less out of the secondary but I think I'm prepared to do that.

As for the LGs, are they better than the Samsungs?

Im looking at getting a new monitor too and was considering the Samsung Screen BUT as you said the panel nightmare i am now very reluctant in getting one, im not going to take the risk.

This one is extremely nice looking :p and people that have it seem to be very pleased with it.

As for the other one, the specs on it are very promising. Cant seem to find any reviews on it though.

Yeah, the panel thing really has annoyed me. Even if it is just all talk, I wouldn't like to spend that much on two of the things and have it turn out that they're 'meh, okay'.

In saying that, the A and S panel customers seem to be very happy with their purchases and I have to say I would be loyal to the Samsung name - as anything I've ever got from them has been justified in price.

However, possibly getting a Dell 2407fwp A04 and picking another one up later down the line has been bouncing around in my head for a while.

Really don't know.

Thinking of going down this route.

What is gaming like on these things?

I've been reading a good few reviews, which are either of the first released version of this monitor or don't delve into great detail on the gaming side of things (i.e. "I played one game and it was great!" sort of stuff)

I read that banding was an issue but has apparently been cleaned up since release and of course the 6-12ms response time, which is longer than that of the 226BW, which I was looking at.

Cheers.
