It depends why you sold it, if it was because it isn't good enough as you have purchased a 30" monitor I would say no get a 8800GTX or wait for the r600
If you just needed the money then yeah the X1800XT 512mb will play most DX9 games at full res on anything upto 24"
It depends why you sold it tbh lol. I assume you had a plan when you sold it seeing as it is less than 6 months old and there is nothing better out yet.

Well i got rid of it because it wasnt good enought tbh. It wasnt doin its job @ 1680 by 1050. 320mb just didnt cut it. I also was thinking of getting the 2900XT depending on its price or 2nd hand 8800 640 GTS or GTX.

The 640mb GTS won't give you much over the card you just sold. Only in certain parts of certain games will you see the benefit (where the texture cache exceeds 320Mb you won't get the system mem to video mem paging any longer, but the raw FPS won't change at all).
Your only real options then are the 8800GTX or the 2900XT. Given the situation, you should at least wait until the 15th to see for sure what the XT can do. The rumours and leaked scores suggest it will perform similar to the GTX though.
