Hi guys i aint been around for ages as i built my pc like three years ago i think it was and it is time to start a fresh so need some help please.
I have a budget of around £1200 -£1300
And have no idear were to start realy but what i do know is i do not need a monitor keyboard mous ect ect all i need is a pc with an operating system and it will be mainly a gaming pc
At the min i have a p4 3.2 with 2 gig of ram and agp ati x800xt gcard so was also wondering will i see big difrence in performance at all with the new pc
Any help and idears will be most apreciated thx

Here something I knocked together in budget, might want change the M/B as iirc someone said that the ASUS boards are better for clocking Quad Core CPUs

instead of the quad core which he'll have no use for right now get the e6600 or a e6700 if youre not planning on overclocking and maybe a gtx instead of a gts depending on the games he plays etc.

would disagree, the e6600 maybe but the 6700 is just a waste of cash unless your a complete fool

the quad cores £340 and its not a waste of money? its supposed to be a gaming machine and most games dont even use 2 let alone 4 cores...if hes not overclocking whats wrong with getting the fastest processor he can afford? surely spending £200 on a e6700 is a lot smarter than spending £340 on a processor that wont be fully utilized..

why he's not on any sort of tight budget...you dont have to be a mad overclocker to buy intel chips

For crying out loud people for his budget a quad-core, 4GB, GTX system is fine. It's within his budget and gives him the best performance for his money. Go with the spec above, its pretty much spot on.

Thx for the spec guys i will take it all on board !
As long as i see a good increase in performance over the old pc i am happy ;)
I will be mainly playing games such as il2 gtr2 battelfild 2.
