Ok i have a Q6600 runnin at 3ghz

an i have 4GB of ram but still only usin xp ave 64bit vista but i hate vista an also need to put a 4 slot MB in to use the other 4GB ram i ave sittin in a box.

my current gpu is a radeon 3870 toxic 512MB

OC'ers dnt sell these any more but was wondering should i upgrade it or get a crossfire config.

forgot to mention i use a 32" Full HD tv as my monitor lol

First of all......Claimed.....lol...!!!. :p

Always wanted to do that.

Was going to suggest the 4850's they had in "B" grade here for sale but I've just checked and they are all gone.

Resolution you game at would be handy, as AgedIdiot said. I just fitted a 9800GTX+ to my rig and its absolutely flying in games now. FEAR 2 is running as smooth as a babys bum with all settings maxed out.

Mind you, I only game at 1440x900.

9800GTX+ cards can be had for @£100.

Resolution will be 1920x1080 as he's said full HD... budget would be usefull tho :)

I recommend the 260SSC though :)

Also whats this claimed business all about?

Apologies, it's a silly juvenille unofficial tradition here on the forums.

Any new member can be "claimed" by a current member when they make their first post/posts.

I know, it's ridiculous. :p

For me your budget makes the choice somewhat difficult given my opinion that :-

285's are very expensive
4870x2's are out of price range (and personally I'm not keen on dual cards)

which leaves 260's and 4870 .

Price/Performance would lead me to go for the Powercooler 4870 1gb one on special at £165.

To add - If you get this or a 260 you are going to have to move to 64bit though.

the £350 was just a guess really.

So if money was no object which would u get that would best fit my system.

i have 64bit just to lazy to put my other MB in lol.

Move to i7 system

AND/OR

a 285. Although it will not perform as well as the x2 in some games it is single core , should cope happily with games at the res you play and will use less power.
