Hi all,

I feel it's upgrade time! Thinking my main rig does need a bit more attention than the Media Pc, but more than happy to take suggestions and ideas on board for both. I was also considering some kind of network storage solution as neither the main rig or Media Pc have a backup solution in case of failure. To be honest, this would really only be important for the Media Pc as it does have a lot of stuff which would be a hassle to replace, including a large amount of HD content.

Media Pc
XFX nForce 630i Geforce 7100 motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 1.6 ghz CPU
2GB PC5300 Geil Ram with silver heat spreader
Pioneer DVD-R 212 SATA DVD Rewriter
Enermax 400w liberty modular PSU
Silverstone Lascala SST-LC13B - Black
2 x 1TB WD HD ( One is very nearly full)

Main Rig
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3
Pioneer DVR-111BK (Possibly borked...buffers when burning often fail)
E6300 with Tuniq Tower
X-Fi Extreme Music
Corsair 620W Modular PSU
2GB Crucial Anni
8800GTS 512MB
320GB WD HD

All ideas welcome - so suggest away! It may be worth noting that I do have a Samsung netbook as well.

Cheers in advance!

No more than £500 I wouldn't have thought.....I was thinking of a total over haul of the main rig, so it could be idea to cost that out?

jus overclock the CPU you will notcie the performance boost

cos quadcore doesnt relly have much over dual unless your getting a Phenom ll:D

Still can't believe nobody has recommended an upgrade :(

main reason is theres not a lot wrong with either spec.

obvious thing is replacement dvd-rw, maybe take the one out of the media centre and put that into your main rig then get a blue ray/hd player for the media rig ?

could have a go at overclocking the e6300 as mentioned above.

whats your main rig used for ?

Do you have a router? Some routers have a usb port on them to hook up a hard drive. It would be useful for your network storage.

no one has recommended an upgrade unless u have cash to burn just build a new pc:D

upgrading sucks cos it jus ends up being a waste of money unless u held back when building the system in the first place if u replace the cpu then the gfx will be the bottle neck then u will want to replace that you see:D

i only paid 90£ for my 8800Gt last year but im gna get a GTX260 maxi core when my loan comes thru:D
