hi guys my problem is that i am near the limit . IE distance from my exchange (ormeau) Belfast I'm using a linksys wag354g- wired part and my speeds can be dire to say the least . my exchange wont be bt wholeworld until 31/3/10,my isp is f2s and the exchange has o2 llu and wondered if i would be better changing isp or buy a wireless/wired n router , what one i don't know and would welcome some advise or do both . my son is driving me nuts as he is on his xbox which is effecting everyone Else's speed on our network , I'm prepared to throw some money at it if i could get more speed .

Could try getting a modem that uses a Broadcom chipset, i.e. one of the Netgear or Billion ones.

They are generally regarded as being the best able to get a good sync from a difficult line.

Going to O2 may also help, ADSL2+ *may* deliver slightly better speeds to you, though if you're on the very limits of ADSL I doubt it would really make a significant difference.

Maybe just tell your son to **** off and not play on his Xbox when other people want to use the internet? :)

Oh, and have you tried one of those BT iplate things?

They may help if you've got bad extension wiring in your house dragging the speed down, try plugging into the master test socket might get you a bit more speed.
