Hey all.
I currently have a Server with the following specs
Amd Sempron 1.9ghz
2gb DDR2 667mhz
250gb Seagate HDD
A Biostar motherboard (unsure on model)
Samsung DVD Driver
EZcool 400watt psu.
This is running fine for what i am using it for.
Windows server 2003
Domain Controller (4 users)
Email server
Print server
A mapped hard drive
As we only have my pc and a Laptop in my house ATM my parents are after another computer.
I have some old components lying around:
AS Rock Nforce 520 Motherboard
EZcool 500 watt psu
1gb DDR2 667mhz
Radeon HD 2600pro GPU
So i was thinking if i purchased an old Phenom I cpu, possibly off the bay, either a quad or a tri and put it into the motherboard along with another hardrive, so i got the other computer working. So what CPU would you guys recommend putting in this?
Would i be best giving my parents the server and using the Bits pc as the server or keeping it how it is?
My parents want it for mostly listening to Music, Possibly some recording and editing as well. I was thinking that if i kept the server how it is then giving my parents the Bits pc as the server is not doing any strenuous tasks.
And before anyone says its a pointless server as i only have 4 users, its because people are constantly wanting to access there data from the laptop.
Any help would be great.
