I just got my hands on a few pretty old computers :)
Pentium 4 2.8ghz,256mb ram in most I think.

What should I do with them?Anything fun(in a geeky way :P )?

Thinking of making a home server if any of them have SATA,I'm yet to have a look if I'm honest.

I would like to know this too. I have a P4 + 256mb RAM system and don't know what to do with it. Especially the home server side of things, what are the advantages of a home server and how would I go about converting it into one?

A pentium 4 with 256m of RAM isn't....sorry isn't likely to have sata, you could add a sata card but is it really worth it?

Pentium 4 with 256m of RAM would serve as a home server, if you take that way then go with the NAS server route.

I wouldn't, I would donate to someone without a computer.

Donating to a good cause is a better use of old hardware, I mean I spec'ed a home server with a PD and 2gig for less then £60 not including hard drives.

Not all of them are what I said above if you are talking to me.
I know for a fact one of them is a sempron with 1gb or 2gb of ram and has sata :)

Wondering what to do with the rest and donating wasn't really on my list, sorry.

If donating wasnt on your list then http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeNAS

I have my home server and works file server running on it.

you did say:

but since
I know for a fact one of them is a sempron with 1gb or 2gb of ram and has sata
Then its an ideal home server.

Funnily enough, my old rig does have SATA, even though it's a P4 with 256mb! I think I may go for the NAS route with it. Fortunately I don't need the money to get some watercooled 480s in SLI as I don't have the same farmville addiction. But my 9800GTX is currently struggling with Mafia Wars...

Watercooling is only a temporary measure until I can get a bag of Chuck Norris' breath to cool it. Although I am in fear of coming slightly off topic here...
