My great uncle died in Nov last year and he had a Hyundai Matrix 1.6 Gsi automatic, it not been used for over a year, was too ill to drive, so no tax/mot/insruance, what would be the best way, ring up some garage and get them to come out move it or could I/dad insure it for short period to get it tax/mot then advertised and sold on?

What would it be worth, 04 plate with 14k on clock. Just needs to be sold as its sitting on a drive, it does start which I was shocked at.

Sounds like an awesome track day project imho.

edit: Silly posts aside Parkers reckons £1660 for 'Private Good', as for selling it I don't think you'd need to tax or insure it to sell it (tis my assumption)...the only bad side to that being that you would obviously need tax and insure it to get it to a garage for MOT! I'd get 6 months tax and cheap TPFT insurance and try offload it as quick as possible.

When my grandfather passed away last year I sold his car on Ebay and ended up getting a very reasonable amount for it. It did have MOT and tax though so I didn't need to do that. I think I would be tempted to insure it for a day and get the MOT and tax then sell it privately.

Apparently the 1.6 Auto is £245 a year for tax (£135 for 6 months) having just looked it up, surprisingly high! At least insurance will be quite cheap (hopefully) on a car such as that; with the tax on the car (and MOT) it will help keep the value of the car high and will ease a quick sale.

At 70k miles. Free parkers valuations are not mileage adjusted.

Stick to the silly comments, tbh.
Oh please get off your high horse, it gets boring.

Not as boring as fighting through the hoards of people who've not got a clue but decide to dispense advice anyway, even if it might end up costing the OP money. What if he'd have done what you said and put it up for £1600!

I would MOT it and sell it on.

Just need insurance for the day to take it to the garage/back, will want a little drive after being stood for a year anyway.

AT or Ebay then I would think.

I know that but its going to take cold hard cash to get it up to that standard hence I want some info.

But thanks for your input

Sorry to hear about your uncle :(

I'd probably get it MOT'ed as it should pass with no issues and 6 months tax, and sell it on. Good luck with it! :)
