Hi people looking for some advice
system speck
cpu 3820 sandy bridge running 4.3 overclock
16 gig ram
ssd 250 hard drive
xfire 7950's
1200 power supply

gaming at 2560x1080 and runs ok most games high etc etc
but I'm looking to go over to 4k gaming , but not sure if I should wait till next year and wait for the new architecture, or bite the bullet and
buy two 980ti's 6gb

A pair of 390's would run 4K nicely for about ~£500-550. Depends if you are prepared to dabble in the multi-gpu territory. and you'd have 8GB of VRAM to play with which is perfect for 4K.
 
2x390s would play bf4 at 4k with ease. I had a 295x2 which was great, I just didn't like the waiting for crossfire profiles on those new gameworks games unfortunately.
