Okay so after opening multiple threads about how my GTX 780 has died after formatting it my PC twice everything now seems normal.

I pulled the trigger earlier today on a 980ti hydro copper and i had ordered the Oculus Rift and it gets delivered at the end of May.

Question is do i return the 980ti hydro or keep it?

Either i stick with the 780 and wait for Pascal whenever that is and just have my OR sitting in a box or keep the 980ti and be ready day one.

What would you guys do as the 980ti is £650 and i think if the pascal cards really are 10x faster i think they'll start around £600+ just a hunch ofc but none the less.

Few things i was thinking about was my 780 won't be able to play day one with the rift but if i waited for pascal the OR will be sitting collecting dust in the mean time as i'll have to wait for EK etc to make blocks for the pascals.

Any advice?

If you are serious about VR the 780 isn't the most useful in that regard (and will rapidly be less so as time passes) regardless of the implications of Pascal.

Yeah that is true, I just wish we knew a little more about Pascal and what they meant by 10x faster. Like 10x faster than what a 980ti or are we talking entry level cards.

10x faster was in some random performance per watt for compute tasks or something - ingame performance is likely to be less than double performance in older games (probably more like +45% tier for tier) and maybe a bit over double in games that use newer shader techniques better supported on the new architecture.
