So, after much pondering I went ahead and bought a Gigabyte P57W-CF2 for £1199. I have had no PC at all for the last 2 years since we moved house and I sold my desktop machine due to space restrictions.

Its been delivered and I have not yet broken the seal on the box as I am unsure whether to keep it....

In essence, I am wondering if I should wait and see what happens with the release of the GTX 1000 Series GPU's. The Gigabyte lappy has a GTX 970 3Gb DDR5 GPU but the release of the new series by Nvidia may push down prices or make available a newer, shinier option! Also, I am seriously thinking I should get one that is G-SYNC enabled.

What would you do?

Im in the same boat except I haven't bought a laptop yet and have a higher budget to play with (£1800)

Unless you are going to add on another £500 to your £1100 budget I wouldn't expect to get a 1070m or 1080m.

Seems to me a 970m will be fine for atleast another 2 years with medium settings 1080p.

Its a tough choice :(

You'll be waiting a long time if you always wait for what is apparently just round the corner, break the seal and enjoy it.

It may be that a 1060m is that much more powerful/capable than a 970m and therefore sufficient!?

Going by historical comparison that are equivalent such as 880m vs 960m the earlier version is notably more powerful, the 780m also easily beats a 960m. A 1060m won't be close to 970m.
