hey guys,

first off, i have sold my GTX 1070 today, i had interest from members here but decided to keep it..and again..sold it :(

so i apologize for my up and down decisions on the card.

i bought a used R9 290 XFX GPU from a well know chain, it also includes a two year warranty (and pre-stress tested) for a good price. Or at lease i think it is

My problem, and hence im starting a new thread, and in general hardware to find what the hell is going on?

two benchmarks, CS GO im averaging around 120-140 FPS and in doom at 1080p around 40-50 FPS?

I have watched videos on Youtube and are getting much higher frame-rates..is it cause im on AMD? is it the card? is it the motherboard? im lost.

my current setup (in case you dont know, but i will be surprised as i have posted all over these forums )

amd fx 8350
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
16gb ddr3 ram
windows 10 pro
radeon xfx 290
evga g2 650w psu
120gb ssd
1tb hd

thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully help me sort this, once and for all.

hey guys,

am i best in upgrading to an i5 processor with a 1155 board and keep my DDR3 RAM?

would this improve things until next year when i can go to a 6600-6700 or Zen platform?

Hey. On Doom, are you using Vulkan rather than Open GL?

I'm using old 2007 xeon and a 1060 gtx and it's smooth as can be. Other games not so much.
