The M3 is up for sale all over the show and I am using the main chunk to clear debts and use the rest to upgrade my trusty K1 gsxr 600

now I could get a 2006 new get 2k ish trade in or buy a 2005 and sell my bike

the problem is what to get

performance wise there isn't too much in it and going from my 600 all will feel amazing

The gsxr thou is reviewed as the best but is Soooo ugly

I'm not a fan of the pointless under seat exhausts they are trotting out at the moment either

the R1 best looking but has the worst engine with the zx10r performing the best and looking ok but with girly lights and awful exhausts

currently I'm thinking about a 2005 zx10r as it looks better and performance is on par with the 2006 but with more brutal handling which on my first thou should be intresting , although this will save me 2k

got to be the R1 for looks, but then i like the GSXR too. Cant say im a big fan of the zx10r, perhaps its the colour :)

If a few friends with both the R1 and the GSXR, ive been on the back of both and they are both fast. However i cant say ive heard anything bad said about the R1 engine but lots of comments about the handling of the GSXR, it seems very unforgiving.

he he

I have heard the exact opposite to everything you have said This is why it's So hard as everyone has a different opinion (i do appreciate yours by the way)

gonna book some test rides me thinks

As a first litre bike I think the ZX10 might be a bit of a handfull, even experienced road testers say that it catches them out. The GSXR's looks could be improved by an aftermarket end can, and as you say it is the most rated of the litre 4's. If you like the looks of the R1 (and in black it is gorgeous) then why not go for it, it may not have the best engine or handling but as far as I understand it's too marginal to show on everyday road riding anyhow.

/edit - I'm going to go for a litre twin next, I think these will suit my road riding style better, and a naked one to try to keep my speed down, I'm liking the Aprilia Tuono from the reviews.

Thats the problem with only ever being a passenger, i never get to make my own mind up unless we take them off the public road :(

Cant wait until next spring, both the g/f and i will be taking direct access tests and get ourselves a couple of bikes for the summer. Going to have to try and find her a bike thats a 600cc and quite a relaxed ride!

As youve said, everyone is different so get out on some test rides and then come back and let us know what you think of each :D

the R1 was my first call as I think it looks awsoms in black

the 2006 kwak is tamer than the 2005 so included that in the list but don't fear the 2005 ,hell after only ever being on a bike for 8 hours (and that was my das course and test) I was off on my 600 :D

I'm not an amazing riderbut I'm confident and sensible when need be So not fazed by any bike ;)

Get the R1 and you will look like Street Hawk  All you need then is a sliding billboard on the side of your house to come bursting out from :D

Im bored of the GSXR look. However I am in love with the new 06 ZX10R and the 2006 R1. Based on looks alone I would take the R1, but iverall after reading reviews of how the Kawasaki performs, I would go with that.

In my opinion the 2006 zx10r is much nicer looking than the 2005, but neither are bad looking :p

The R1 though, sex on wheels.

GSXRs are looking smarter and smarter each time they are face lifted but they are still ugly in my opinion, and far to common.

Apologies if I've missed anything here Steve, but why are you selling the M3 then?

I mean I've seen what you've said about clearing debts etc, I just wondered if there was something about the M3 you did'nt like anymore?

I'd personally go with the R1, although all the other bikes come pretty close, the R1 clinches it on looks.
Ive not rode any of them though so its based upon looks alone, ive been meaning to try my mates R1 for awhile now, but its rained everytime ive went to have a go. Did sit on though and it was far more uncomfortable than my R6.

Not that I'm a yamaha fan or anything but the R1 does rock :D

Alternatively the ZX9r is a pretty awesome bit of kit.

Have you thought about a twin?

Nah he shocked us all a few weeks ago by saying he was going to put it up for sale as he needs the money. Quite admirable in my opinion its pretty hard to follow your head and be sensible than to follow your heart where a car like the M3 is concerned! Especially an ever so slightly upgraded one :p

Although if im going to be sad to see it go then god help steve!

Anyway, buy a big bike to compensate ;)

The suzuki just looks better built.

It wont be though as the paint will be about 1 micron thick and the metal will turn to fuzz at the first site of an atom of 02.

I like Yamahas, just not the R bikes.

I'd get a fireblade even if it might be a fraction slower than the others.

Personally i would have the Gsxr .. Every mag raves about it and in black it looks stunning . There is a couple of guys who i meet up at the downs who ride them and there just so full of praise (althought they admit there to fast for uk roads)
The next option would be a 2005 Zx10r ... Stunning looking bike and loony engine . After that it would be a Mille R .. Lovely sound and really looks the part .

personally im gonna get a Z1000 .. Love the looks and more than quick enough for what i need .. Although may wait till the 2007 one comes out as they have sorted the suspension and brakes on the new one .

Persil

Have you seen the 2007 bikes yet? The new Gixxer thou looks beautiful, just sort it out with a non-ugly set of yoshimuras or something and it will be v.shecksy!
