What to get Viewsonic VA1912W, Acer AL1916W

what for? Depends on the use. The Viewsonic and Acer use the same 8ms TN Film panel from Samsung anyway, while the Samsung 730BF uses a 4ms TN Film panel from Samsung themselves as well. The 730Bf certainly has an edge in responsiveness for gaming, but the Acer / VS have a large screen and WS format. Depends what you're looking for

well the Viewsonic and Acer might be good choices, since the WS would be nice for movies, and the extra screen size is nice for gaming certainly, adding to immersion in games compared with 17" screens. With the availability of well priced and top nothc 19" models, i dont think personally that there is much point getting a 17" model nowadays. You could get the Samsung 930BF for a good price, probably no point looking at the 730BF really. If you want a 4:3 aspect screen then the Samsung 913N and AG Neovo F419 are very popular right now and good models. If you want WS then Viewsonic tend to make good quality screens, the VA1912W might be a good choice.

Thanks

Why the SM730BF? For £250 you can have the 19" version the SM930BF or plenty of other nice 19" screens.

It's also worth pointing out that 19" widescreen (16:10 ratio) isn't actually that big, compared to non-widescreen (5:4 ratio) 19" screens. They work out at (using a little trig) -

19" 5:4 ratio = 14.84 (w) *11.87 (h) inches (176.2 sq in)

19" 16:10 ratio = 16.11 (w) *10.07 (h) inches (162.2 sq in)

Which looks something like this-

So about 8% less screen area with the widescreen. I guess it all depends on how much of the content you'll be using it with is in a widescreen format. In FPS games the widescreen (in the games that support it) does let you see more to either side, but the lack of tallness also makes everything look smaller.
