hi all. hope all well. i am looking to buy some more ram for my pc as i only have 192 ram but am not sure how much more i need or what sort. i am running windows xp Athlon(tm)xp 2000 1.67ghz. thank you for any help.
You want at least 1GB of PC2100, but PC2700 or PC3200 will do to if you can't get hold any. This depends on how many slots you have so you might have to ditch the RAM you have and swap for 2x512MB modules.
thank you for your help. when ive looked i have for slots 2 small and 2 big. the 2 big ones have the memory in the 2 small ones have nothing in. does this have anything todo with this virtual memory minimum too low thing i keep getting. im new to all this as you might be able to tell.cheers.
The memory is located in memory banks. It sounds like you have two banks. So you will need to replace the sticks you have with 2 new ones. Say 2 x 512MB, for example.
just to ask, i had pc built for me and asked the person who built it about more memory he said the pc would not take more than 512k does this sound right. thanks.
If you could find out what motherboard you have and look it up on the relevent manufacturers website you should be able to find exactly what it will or wont take.
