Dads due an upgrade next week (Orange) and i'll be having the phone. Looking at either the N96, N85, 5800 or a Blackberry of some description. Trouble is i've been out of touch with phones for a while, thoughts on each phone? Which is the best blackberry model available? What are the main differeneces between the N96 and N85?

I'm also lookin for an upgrade option when contract is up next month and was looking at an N96, coming from an N80 I think it would be a nice upgrade in many respects.

N85 has a 1200mah battery (same as N95 8Gb) whereas the N96 only has a 950mah one like the original N95 so that's a big issue for some (not so much for me).

5800 is nice but I'm not interested in touch screen and my dad has a blackberry and while it is a nice device it's not what I'm after as an upgrade.

Would like to hear from those who have had an N96 for a few months as I know there were some who got one back in November or so ...

There seems to be a few comments regarding the battery life on the N96 - some say it doesn't last long when using it for music etc.

Considered any Sony Ericssons?

I'd choose the N85 over the N96 simply for the screen. The N96 has 16GB of on-board memory though, which the N85 lacks.

Choice of N85 or 5800 is really dependent on whether you want a touchscreen phone or not.

When you say you'd go with the N85 just for it's screen - why exactly is that ? I know it's an OLED one etc but is it really that much better other than being brighter for instance?

One main thing I want in a phone is good storage potential and the N96 has that in bucket loads which tips it for me.

I always wonder about the increased viewing angle on mobile phones - do you really want other people seeing what's on your screen? :p Plus it isn't like you use your phone as a main TV while wandering around :D

OP - I have a 5800 and am happy with it, decent music player, good apps out of the box and downloadable, stable, good menu speed and very nice screen, just kinda 'works'. :)

Precisely - I don't really care if the next person along on the train/bus can't see my screen clearly so that isn't an issue in the slightest!

I presume there aren't higher capacity batteries available for phones like the N96 - which aren't cobbled together by someone in their garage that is!
