What to get?

Hi all. With the birth of our first baby less than 4 weeks away now, I realised over the weekend that the only camera I have to capture the first moments is the one on my iPhone 4S.

So I'm looking for a dedicated camera/video camera to do the job. I have never owned a camera so have nothing to go by in terms of a reference point.

I have been browsing some of the cameras on 'the rainforest' and it has left me even more confused with so many types available.

Could someone point me in the direction of a few of the 'better' models? Anything in particular I should look for/avoid?

What's your budget? The 4S takes nice photos in good light. I'd be tempted to just snap away and spend the camera money on prints.

Budget is around £350 but could stretch it a bit further.

I agree the 4S is ok but I thought a dedicated camera would be better.
