I currently have an ‘07 Honda CR-V having got rid of a ‘17 Hyundai Santa Fe for a house move (think 2+ tonnes of rubble to local tip). My ‘new’ car needs to have some practical capability so thinking estates only. Plus, I am bored with the SUV thing as they tend to drive like the agricultural/4x4 that they are, in my view.

Been looking at a few BMW 330d touring as I fancy a change to a car with decent driving performance that can still fit a reasonable amount of gear in with the seats down and is able to lug my 4 berth caravan. I am looking at no more than £16-18K and consequently I am concerned about reliability as realistically I am not going to find a newer one than ‘16 MY for that money with under, say, 70K miles covered.

So, what would you recommend? I need/want an estate that has decent performance and is reliable.

My opinion - you won't find a better all round car than a 330d Touring. Not sure what makes you hugely concerned on a 70k mile 2016 car?? The engines/gearboxes/body have a very well proven track record for reliability

Reliability is overrated, buy this:

Meh, sold. There are four in existence apparently, best keep your peepers open!

Ugliest Maserati I ever saw. Does it make the right noise at least :P

e61 M5, Estate, epic performance, I mean, what could possibly go wrong? ok probably a little over in the mileage requirement and they are very reliable (until they aren’t…) :D
