What to include on a CV for someone who has just left school and not had a job?

I am pretty sure when I left school and had my first job, or second job, or third job (part time job), most of them were all application form based. However my sister is asking me to create a CV for her.

I have no issues with helping her, and my CV is pretty good, I know how to write one, however what information do you usually put on there for someone who has just left school (obviously putting exam results) but has not had a job before?

Does it not depend on the job you're going to be applying for?

When I didn't have a job I just put I haven't had any formal work experience but am a quick learner etc. etc. I would've thought any job that is happy to employ someone who's just out of school won't be that picky.

So, using my CV template, I am going to keep for her the following sections

(Personal Details)

(Personal Statement)

(Skills)

(Education)

(Work Experience)

(Hobbies, Interests & Extra Curricular activities)

Sound feasible?

Work experience?

I would have thought companies would not expect much on a CV from someone fresh out of school.

As mentioned, she hasn't had a job being a 16 year old modern teenager, a lot of the places round here not really employing 16 year olds anymore, I am not sure what its like round by everyone else.

Given the above, how can you put a work experience section on there? Only thing I can think of is put down her work experience she done in School a few years back.

Be creative. If you have a family member or if any of her friend's paretns own their own company - get her to go in for a morning/day and then include it as work experience on the CV.

I asked my little sister if she liked my business cards and website, she suggested a change of design and now includes it on her CV as work experience - obviously she only does this as her CV experience is somewhat lacking too.

Yeah good call

Cheers all :) Hopefully this should be enough

Has she done any work experience at school?

I would put that on there, along with any volunteering/charity work.

Also, would highlight parts of her curriculum she is interested in/wants to take further in her career.

Depends on the work she's applying for, however in most cases I'd say lie as much as possible, as long as you/she can back it up.

No, It's not a typical OcUK answer, I actually mean this. I had to do this to scrub out some of my more questionable decisions in life (didn't work for a year and just played World of Warcraft, worked as a security guard etc)

Try and be kinda general about the lies and let the employer read into it as they want is always a good idea.

Exams and results as you said.

volunteer work, or any activities she's involved in: i.e. social sec of the volleyball team... etc... any clubs at school she's been involved in, sports teams, music etc...

Any accolades at school? Drama, sports, school colours etc...

Has she really had no job (even a paperround?) at all?

Any charities she's invovled in.

Hobbies

Aspirations for the future.
