im going to be looking at a few peugeot 206's at the weekend. and would like some clues as to what to look for.

id like the 1.4ltr lx/glx but will also consider the 1.9ltr diesel as i have seen a couple with decent mileage at a good price and im looking to get them no older than a w plate.

anything i should pay particular attention to? are these cars prone to rust on the arches etc?

With the greatest of respect, the thing you should be really looking for is a different car!

Focus Fiesta yada yada

Hateful little things. If you value aesthetics over driving ability and comfort then it'll be right up your street.

Most of them seem to be owned by stupid 17 yr old girls.

its for the girlfriend tbh. thats what she wants. i did toy with a fiesta/focus but i really hate the styling of the ones that i can afford. budget up to about £1800 but preferably lower.

206s aren't THAT bad. It is after all a 10+ year old design. How many small cars designed 13 years ago are still good now? Not many. 206 ride and handling is decent enough. The big downsides are the reliability / build quality and the horrendous driving position.

ive the oppurtunity to buy my assistant managers of him for £1000 its a 2ltr diesel on a x plate its got a fsh and i know for a fact hes looked after it well. but its done 150000k but im told that on a diesel its ok?

yeah thats the one. ill make him a serious offer then. i will be driving it a bit to so i would prefer something a bit more manly than a 206!

aye. if the service history checks out, offer him 800-900.

oh and check the crankshaft pulley has been done. known failing point on these. :)
