I bought a 4870 off the forums here I think i paid about £50 for it, however it artifacts during any kind of 3D activity and I want to replace it with something else. I will need to go 2nd hand because of my criteria.

my requirements
1 - can not be a downgrade in anyway
2 - must run cooler (this card idles at 68oC)
3 - priced around teh same as what I paid for this card
4 - would be nice to go nvidia if poss but not an absolute requirement.

suggestions please :D

EDIT - thread title is wrong it is a HD4870

Scout around in the members market, do a bit of haggling.

lol That is what I was asking advice on, I don't know the performance of GFX cards nowadays.
it was easy when it was GF4>GF3>GF2, after that they started to introduce all sorts of naming regimes and as I never kept up with it none of them really make any sense to me.

why is a 260 faster than a 5700 ?
why is a 5700 not almost as fast as a 5800 series.

anyways it looks like I found a GTX460 in the MM for £60. :)

Happy days.
