What to replace a logitech G15 with?

Hi All,

I bought a Corsair K70 RGB RapidFire to replace my G15. I didnt get on with the Corsair as the keys were to sensitive and caused me to press keys in error. I have since sold it.

I have gone back to my G15 as a stop gap, I really missed just how good it was as a keyboard. But it will need replacing as its getting a bit scruffy and showing its age.

What would people recommend as a good all round keyboard to replace a G15?

Was thinking Corsair K70 MX-Brown RGB.

Thanks,
Matt

You just found possible problem of very light linear switches: Little resistance until key press has been already registered.
So non-linear force curve switch is lot better attempt for not feeling totally alien to use.

Then do you have other preferences like noise level?
Though I guess you would like to avoid unnecessary high noise level increase.
While some have fixation for mechanical typewriter imitation noise I myself don't use keyboard for making ruckus.

I guess you also want illumination?
Do you prefer more classy discreet look or like that RGB Cherry bling bling/US Christmas lights level illumination?

Logitech's Omron made Romer-G would have non-linear force curve with resistance bump before "actuation" point.
It also has illumination focused on key cap markings and internal noise damping for lowering some of down/upstroke noise of mechanical switches.
So have you checked these:

Got G810 in late winter after nearly five years of MX Brown G710+ and certainly wouldn't go back to that sharp "clickety-clacketyness".

Thanks EsaT for the advice.

Noise level isnt to much of a concern but dont want to sound like a machine gun. Id like a bit of illumination, K70 levels were about right.

I did look at the G910 but couldnt work out how high the activation point is. A bump in the activation point sounds like what im looking for.

MX Blue should be called as MX Retro with total noise starting to approach that old mechanical typewriter level easily getting complaints from another room.
And non-clicky switches really aren't that much quieter at faster typing/key pressing speeds...
Because only pressing key down and letting it up softly prevents noise from hard plastic parts hitting each others.
Causing that sharp "clickety-clacketyness" of already factory installed o-rings equipped G710+!
(so it's already quieter than normal)
Most mechanical switch designs simply don't give a damn about noise level.

Start of this shows well what Romer-G's illumination looks:

Vs. Cherry RGBs light leaking everywhere:

(why can't all youtube reviews show product in start of video instead of advertising reviewer's face for minutes?)

With also shortened travel Romer-G doesn't really have light/"loose" initial travel with force increasing almost instantly.
So that part of force curve is closer in feel to membrane than in MX Brown.
Once you exceed that initial mild bump key starts going down with lower force, while key press is registered after 1,5mm of travel.
MX Brown has initial "loose" travel of 1mm, with sharper force bump between travel of 1mm and 1,5mm, followed by ligh travel to actuation point at 2mm.
After MX Browns it sure felt different, but after fair week of use it didn't anymore feel weird.
Romer-G certainly isn't the most tactile, but at least it has some more initial resistance unlike MX Red/Speed.
And in certain sense relative lightness also increases speed in gaming.

My G910 arrived yesterday and so far its a very nice keyboard. No more accidental key presses, PUBG and Dota 2 are far nicer to play now.

Thanks for the advice.

Hello, soon I have to replace my G15 (v1, 2006, lights are out, lcd is out, etc.) and I would like to ask about your experience.

I bought a Corsair K55: silent, rubber dome, "cheap" and I was not ready to get a mechanical one as G15 was super satisfying for me + a membrane Chicony is fine for me for typing in work, so why would I need a _louder_ mechanical, what could go wrong? Well, the K55 is a negative after the G15: it is harder to press the buttons (for me) + as I have the mouse in left hand I use the arrow keys and I can not reach the Home key comfortably (maybe I have a small hand? I've used a lots of keyboards in my life and never met this problem, until now). Pressing Ctrl+Insert (left handed Ctrl+c) is tiring but I can get used to it.

I figured out that Corsair keyboards have a "floating style" and maybe that ~+2mm height drives me nuts after the G15.

So how your G910 can be compared to your old G15? And most important which G910 do you have?
920-008018 is buyable in my country as "Orion Spectrum"
US logitech webpage: 920-008012 = Orion Spectrum (can not be purchased in my country)
US logitech webpage: 920-006385 = Orion Spark (can not be purchased in my country)

Thanks a lot!

Hi which country? I'm like you lefty Ive G910 im using it's good but mines earlier type with bucket keys they changed them and use other name spectrum mines spark like hand rest but bucket keys can be tiresome with miss hits if not careful as catch them when using other key why they changed to flatter types.
not over struck with there software and trying to download tat to my pc which ive cleared out so watch downloads!
