Have you considered it fox? I know it is totally different to what you are used to and wanting, but you could be won over. :)

I got rid of my crappy HTC a while ago and am still using a samsung E900. Bullett proof and love the ability to just call and text with minimal fuss. But it's time to get out of the medival age.
