What to update?

My current specs are;

Gigabyte x58-ud3r
HD 5850
i7 920
6gb dominator ram
60gb M4 ssd
1tb WD black hdd
Asus xonar

Was just wondering what the best thing would be to update first, to try and get ready for BF4 and GTA V. I can play BF3 on high, and GTA IV on reasonable settings already.

New gpu, the rest of that spec is still pretty good, bigger ssd would be a nice addition too. What sort of budget have you got in mind?

Budget wise less than £300 if I could. Would it be better to get a second 5850 as it would be cheaper?

A 7950 would be a nice upgrade, comes in under £300.00 and handles bf3 very well. On the nvidia side, the new gtx 760 looks pretty good for the price. Not far off gtx 670 performance in bf3. A game i play a lot myself and a single 670 handled it great on ultra settings at 1920x1200.

Although a 2nd 5850 would give you a cheap performance boost you'd be VRAM limited in a lot of games, if you can afford it you'd be better off going for a 2GB or 3GB single card from one of the newer generations.

7950 as recommended by others is a good card. Might also be worth keeping an eye on 660 Ti prices over the next few days to see if there are any deals now it's been replaced by the 760 (if you'd make the switch to Nvidia of course).
