Hi Chaps,

I'm looking to upgrade abit more before BF3, and was wondering what to upgrade next? I bought the 6850 not long ago so, I don't really want to buy another graphics card so soon! I am not sure if the 6 core CPU's are worth it yet, maybe look at an SSD? Budget is probs around 150ish.

This is my spec except I have a XFX ATI Radeon HD 6850 Black Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card now.

Cheers guys!!

your computer is pretty balanced right now so its hard to make a call.

however, i;d probably go for the sandybridge processor + motherboard upgrade first, and pick up an Nvidia 6 series or ATI 7 series once the prices have settled down after release.

your ram can be carried over as the motherboards still use DDR3, and the cooler can also be carried across because socket 1155 and 1156 share the same mounting bracket.

if you could sell your curent processor and motherboard you might be able to up your budget to enough for an i5 2500k + P67 motherboard (£234.97 minimum), but currently you cant even get the non overclockable i5 2400 with a non overclockable H61 motherboard on your budget (£182.98) :(

your processor vs i5 2500k at standard speed:

(4.5Ghz will be easily achieved with your cooler on the 2500k)

Upgrade

Get 2 x small SSD for RAID 0 SSD Power :D

Then buy if you can a SATA Hard drive the same size make and model of your current drive and RAID 0 that too.

Install OS on the SSD Raid, Data on the SATA (remember to move pagefile and temp files to SATA drive) and away you go.

Might be worth going to 8gb DDR3 (or even 16gb whilst its cheap so you can turn paging off).

Wait with the CPU - the x6 Phenoms will drop in price when BD is released hopefully :)

^^ Raid 0 for both SSDs and HDD?
what happens if both of them fail and the OP loses all their important data?

just get a Crucial M4 64GB SSD for now, and then save up for a core upgrade(cpu/mobo/ram) including GPU.

just looking at the price of RAM, holy ****!!

Thanks for the advice guys, I am leaning towards an SSD I think. So I would just have a 64gb SSD for the OS. Would I also install games on it or install games on my SATA hdd?
