What to upgrade next?

My current setup - Intel i7 960 - Arctic Freezer 13 - 12GB Ram 1600Mhz - Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 - 3GB XFX R9 280x - 1TB Hard Drive - 430w Power Supply.
I play games like Rust and Total War Warhammer, what would be the best thing to upgrade next? Currently i can play rust on Fantastic on 900p, can do 1080 but its not smooth, not a great framerate. Warhammer i can play mostly on medium at 1080p. I'm not sure if the Nvidia 970 would work?

I would say the GPU and CPU are probably quite well matched. I think you are at the stage where its possibly not worth further upgrading the system. a 970 wouldnt be a huge upgrade over a 280x at the best of times anyway, so I certainly wouldn't recommend that.

Well, that's my opinion, though I would suggest seeking others before makings yours.

You might be able to justify one more GPU upgrade if your CPU is overclocked to the moon, but I dont think I'd recommend it.
