I have
corsair 520W
E4300 @ 2.7GHz (not stable any higher despite being ice cold)
Gigabyte DS3P
8800 GTS 320mb
4gb Corsair Ram

I was thinking about getting a 4850, but am thinking my CPU will just bottleneck that severely so i wont get a huge boost in performance.
So shall i get the 4850 now or shall i wait and upgrade GPU and CPU at the same time later on in the year.

Any opinions?
And what cheapish CPU is worth considering should i scrape enough cash now.

the 2180/2200's seem to be hitting 3ghz from the posts i;ve seen, maybe get a decent cooler for it.

i'd wait on the gfx card for a bit till there in stock in decent amounts, and the 4870 released and the prices might drop slightly .

The E4300 @ 2.7ghz should perform about as good as a 3ghz E2180 because it has double the L2 cache.

I don't think there'd be too much bottlenecking really...your E4300 might be running at only 2.7ghz but it's hardly a P4 lol.

I've got a pretty decent cooler Scythe Infinity. and the temperatures aren't the problem. It just will not be stable no matter how much i boost the voltage. tinkered with the settings for ages, just never got it to work.

So I should still reap plenty of benefits from a 4850 with this CPU?
