Hi All,
Just having a little internal discusion with myself, What would be the best upgrade path for me. I have no real problems with my pc, just wouldnt mind a little more oomph from pc (just me like to upgrade!)
Current System
Gigabyte MB MA790FX-DS5
Chip AMD Phenom II X4 940 BE @ 3.52GHz (Air Cooled )
Mem 5 - 5 - 5 - 15 - 24 2T DDR2 800MHz 8GB (Cant run at 1066MHz cuz of OC im assuming of chip even tho its rated at 1066MHz can run 4Gb fine but 8Gb problems!)
GFX - 6950 @ Max OC with Overdrive 840 Core / 1325 Mem
Sound - Asus Xonar DX
PSU Plenty powerfull enuff 850Watts 90% Cert
HD 2 x VelociRaptor HDD in RAID Ave = 210MBs

Like to know other peoples thoughts.....GFX or chip and MB and RAM

Thanks for looking!

Matt

The obvious choice would be convert to sandybridge 2500K, But what oomph do you need it for? the 6950 should be plenty already, and frankly, the processor isn't a complete disaster either. Apart from maybe the core components (CPU - Mobo - RAM), everything looks bang up to date.

Note that you could sell those components together as a package. Looks quite decent.

Yes everything looks very good beside processor, but if are to run all your currents you may as well stick with. but for games like BF3 you may need 2 get a better one.

Thanks for Suggestions

Hi all thanks for suggestions, had the MB CPU and 4Gb Memory for almost 2 years now, changed the GPU constantly...from xfire of 2900 Pro then 4870x2 then the 6950. Added the extra ram quite recent.
I have tried to up the voltage but the voltage for the ram is 2.2 for those timing anyway which is way up on standard 1.8v and its a bit of a bugger reseting the bios. gigabyte decided to put it in a really awkward space on the MB. So i didnt try that hard to get the timing at 1066Mhz!
I think i will just save my money and think about getting CPU RAM and MB in the future.
Thanks All again :-)
