Hi at the moment I have no audio connected to my pc but have a spare set of hifi speakers and an av receiver that I could connect or is this overkill and should I just get a set of powered speakers, this will only be used for general pc duties and casual gaming ?
Thanks

I would use that AV receiver and hiring speakers you have spare. No such thing as overkill IMO and if it’s not doing anything, sounds like a simple enough decision to use them IMO. If once you have it all hooked up and not happy with it, then sure look at other options imo.

Yeah, no point in buying anything else if you can make use of what you already have. I suppose the only thing that might make buying powered speakers preferable, would be if you have no space for said AVR and speakers (depending on size).

I've seen someone put floor standing speakers on his desk, because he had no room for them either side of the desk. Looked bizarre and not ideal due to the height of the woofers and tweeters, but for him that was preferable to spending more money on smaller ones. :p

No sense to look for anything else if you already have proper speakers and space for them.
