What to use to clean a CPU?

I've used ear buds and some of that 95% pure alcohol stuff they give to teenagers to help with spotty faces. (not sure if they sell it in the UK)

Recommend against nail varnish remover as it leaves a residue, and it also has conditioners and the like in it. Also, it can react with bare silicon (I know chips now have an IHS on them)

Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA or isopropanol) is the stuff of choice! Evaporates and leaves nothing behind. The purer the better.

Oh, and I use kitchen roll myself.
