Hey all, Thanks for reading my topic..

I basicly have a E6300 thats concave and runs hot 35/40 idle 40/58 load.. @ stock..

I have a few options i could do..

Lap it, ( could break it loses its warrenty and worth nothing afterwards)

buy a 6600 or 6420 or 6400..

or keep it how it is @ stock and run it hot...(would like to clock it)

I was just after a bit off advise.. If i bought a 6600 i would use this cpu as my server cpu or media center ect..

Thanks Phil

i was planning on doing that also.. I already have a zalman 9500 its noisey and rubbish.. So you recon lap/new cooler?

Phil

Yeah I'd lap it.

As long as you don't damage the capacitors on the underside when doing it, you won't need to worry about the warranty. CPUs very rearly die.

yeah i guess so.. Plan to buy a quad in summer..

Whats the best air cooler i can buy for under 50?

Phil

I got an Ultra 120 Extreme today for the quad but i think i might have fitted the wrong adapter for it maybe..i have been tearing the pc apart and messing about for 8 hours and my head is wasted.
It is held down ok but it can be twisted a bit in a circular motion and according to the manual it is the right one - will post temps when i get it sorted .

The Extreme's do that, as did the Ultra versions. It's normal afaik and nothing to worry about.
