What TV Card?

Well I tried this thread in the AV area in Photography as it's kinda to do with video in etc. but had nothing, so I'm now asking the graphics crew to help.

I have a WinFast TV2000 XP Expert tv tuner card in my system at the moment. I bought it years ago, and it's a brilliant card, the problem I'm having though is that it can only do 'normal' tv image size/quality and it only does stereo sound.

I've been looking around at shops for cards and the only real difference in my card and more modern ones is that they can do digital tv in. None of them mention the sound (which isn't a big deal, but would be nice to have tv on surround sound via the PC).

I'm after something that can do component in (RGB) as I'd like to be able to play my PS2 on any screen that is linked to my PC at a decent quality, rather than stretching PAL's 576i to 1280x1024 (current monitor's res) or larger.

I was thinking of getting a Dell 2407, but with money being short I may well opt for something with just the DVI in and not all the extras of the Dell (component in), but still a large screen (22"+). This means that I'll have to upgrade the tv card as the current one would jus stretch far too much, I also do not want to get a HDTV as they are low res and I'll mostly be using the monitors for uni work at duel screen.

So yeah, please help me find a card that is like sub £100 (much more and the price of the card + monitor = same as 2407).

What confuses me is that even the £1K cards still don't seem to do RGB in...

You're best just getting a monitor with a rgb/component input really as well as DVI. That way you can use your PS2/3 without having to have your pc on.

I don't see any differance between what you are saying - the PC will no upscale your PS2, it'll only ever be PAL res, if you play full screen through your PC it'll will stretch it, no two ways about it.

Get something like this -> link

Well the PS2 has component out, and I was under the assumption it runs at a different res to PAL on composite.

It's been said that the PS2 and Xbox (1 not 360) look best on component in on the Dell 2407 rather than on the composite or S-video in...which leads me to belive that I'd get a better image if I use component on either the monitor or a tv card.

I'm guessing that there are no tv/capture cards around that do what I'd like, ah well.

There is little to no point in me getting the Hauppauge card as mine does all of that (not in MCE, but XP/Vista), it has remote, tv, radio and all sorts of other features (like composite and s-video in).

Looks like I'll have to stick with the PS2's image being really stretched and save for the 2407 then.
