Hi there,

I have a ati 4890 graphics card that has 2 female dvi i dual link inputs.

I want to connect the PC to my plasma which has 3 hdmi female connectors...

I purchased a dvi to hdmi cable online and they sent me a dvi d single link to hdmi cable and it didnt work...

******s say I need a DVI D dual link male to hdmi male cable but I am not sure if it will work because my graphics card has 2 DVI I dual link inputs..

So what cable do I need to connect my pc to my plasma?

Please help

Thanks in advance..

unfortunately not...i also have two monitors for my pc...

therefore i think the easiest way would be to get a dvi to hdmi cable but didnt realise until now that there are so many different types lol...

perhaps it would be easier to get a dvi to hdmi adaptor and then just a hdmi cable...

I am not sure with the 5xxx cards but with the 4xxx cards you needed the proprietary ATI DVI to HDMI dongle to get the audio out of the card via HDMI.

This was one of the big selling points of the 4xxx cards (full bitrate LPCM over HDMI) and I believe the selling point of the 5xxx cards is full bitrate Bitstream over HDMI.

Am surprised it was not bundled in the box, as there was one in my Sapphire 4850 card.

On the other issue you mentioned with DVI-I. This means the connector can output both DVI-A and DVD-D signals.

Therefore as a cable suggestion how about this (from another store as don't think OCUK sell these).

thanks mate just ordered one...

whilst the description says it will fit a dvi d or dvi i socket i hope it does...

i never received a convertor dongle, my card was second hand...if this cable is incorrect, I will just buy the dongle and a long hdmi cable

thanks for your help
