Hey,
So my sister is graduating in July and my mum wants me to go and take some photos of her graduation with my 350d. What type of lens is good for taking photos for such event?I currently only have the kit lens. I was thinking maybe a nifty fifty will do? Its only going to be photos of her and my parents, not when shes on stage. Willing to spend max £150 (I know low budget but money is tight).

Thanks

I'm no expert but the nifty fifty jumped in to my mind when reading the thread title.

I would think it would be the ideal lens.

Got some very nice photos with my 50mm f/1.8 last year, highly recommend.

Photos of her on stage might require something a bit longer, but I reckon a nifty fifty is what you want. I really need to get hold of one myself at some stage.

Hang on a mo, is there actually a necessity to buy anything here?

Sure the Canon kit lens isn't the greatest peice of glass the world has ever seen but by the sounds of things you're not talking about taking shots where you have no control over the situation. Why not just save the cash and work with what you have?
