i already have a cm stacker, asus premuim mobo so i dont know what type of pus i need? i am also going to go sli later on, might need to change the CPU chip because i cant buy it by tmorrow so might change to a 4600+

If you have still to buy then I would recommend an X1800XT over a 7900gt, as fast, cheaper and more reliable as a general rule.

It might be worth considering either an AM2 or preferably a Conroe based system if you might upgrade at any point in the near future, if you intend to keep the system for 1 year plus then socket 939, AM2 or socket 775 probably doesn't matter hugely.

//edit 400w might be a little on the light side, it should cope but I'd be happier with the 430w or higher.

Yeh get the 4600...

No, please don't. The 4600 has only 512kb L2 cache per core rather than the 1mb of the 4400. The extra cache does make a difference so the 4400 is barely any slower at stock speeds and you can easily overclock but you can't add more cache.

The situation might be different for AM2 but I don't know that for certain :)

Ok, when i just looked at the 4600 on another site it had 1mb cache  my mistake sorry m8 4400 is better

The other site was probably taking the combined L2 cache of both cores which is a bit misleading if you don't know what others in the line have. It would be helpful if all sites were clear about their products, OcUK seem to be better than most in that regard. :)

i've been after the 4400+ for a long time so finally gonna get it, as for the gfx card im not sure as im tyrin to get it cheap as possible and fast tis why i went with 7900 as i can go sli later on
