I overcloked my CPU and it idles at 32 and 34 core 0 and core 1 on CoreTemp.

I played BFBC2 for 20mins and it hit 51C!!

Myabe it will go hotter with 2-3 hours of gaming? The most I am liekly to do in one session.

What temps should I be worried about? Is it ok to hit 60 when gaming? 65 bad etc...?

cheers

Find the proper make and model of the CPU and download and run Prime95 for a while. That'll give you an idea of your maximum temperature. Then post the CPU information and the temperatures you reach during the test here, and we can advise you properly. :)

Ignore the results it generates, Prime95 isn't primarily a stress test, but it's useful for checking stability and your maximum temperatures. Once you've found an overclock you're happy with it's best to let Prime95 run for a few hours to double check the maximum temperature and make sure the overclock is stable. I imagine after an hour or so it would have climbed up past 65, but that's still a perfectly acceptable temperature from what Reaper was saying.

prime95 uses 100% of your CPU power, so have fun playing minesweeper :p

being more serious though, whenever im stress testing my PC i just read a book

*edit*
while i think about it, since its late at night i would say a 20-30 min test should be ok for now, but do a longer one when you have most of the day free

lol ok no problems I got a ps3 and tv and dvds. I was just wondering!!?!? thought so!!

How long should I run it for? I can leave pc on all night? well Ill prob e awake for another 5 hours anyway

I can run cs:s without even noticing prime in the background!?

and it depends how confident of your temps not getting too hot... I wouldn't recommend leaving prime running overnight...

some say 8 some say 12 hrs, around that should be fine
